Why Teens Love Improv
Improv gives teens a place to be creative, take risks and work with other people without worrying about getting everything exactly right.
Confidence & Communication
Learn to trust your ideas, speak up, listen closely and become more comfortable responding in the moment.
Creativity & Quick Thinking
Use imagination and spontaneity to create scenes, characters and stories while learning to adapt when things change.
Teamwork & Connection
Improv depends on supporting other people, building ideas together and creating a strong sense of ensemble.
Improv Skills That Carry Beyond the Stage
Students learn the core principles of improv through active, low-pressure exercises rather than lectures or memorization.
Over the course of the session, teens practice how to listen actively, accept and build on other people's ideas, communicate clearly, make confident choices and take creative risks in a supportive environment.
Those are useful performance skills, but they also carry over into school, friendships, presentations and everyday conversations.
Taught by Professional Improv Performers
Teen improv classes are led by experienced instructors and professional performers from National Comedy Theatre. They know how to make the room feel fun and relaxed while still giving students useful structure, feedback and opportunities to grow.
Students are encouraged to participate at their own pace. There is no expectation that someone walk into the first class ready to jump onstage and perform in front of everyone.
Teen Improv Class Details
Each session runs for six consecutive Saturdays. The class is designed specifically for teens, with exercises and material appropriate to the age group.
Because the group works together throughout the session, students have time to get comfortable with one another and build stronger ensemble skills from week to week.
