National Comedy Theatre is a professional improv theatre company built around one thing: performing live comedy for an audience.
Our shows are performed by experienced cast members who train, rehearse and perform together regularly. The result is fast-paced, collaborative comedy created entirely in the moment, with the audience providing the suggestions that inspire each performance.
NCT presents multiple shows each week, including our flagship Mainstage production and performances featuring other NCT casts. The same approach to professional improv also extends beyond our stage through classes, private entertainment and corporate programs.
NCT's performers have brought interactive comedy far beyond our San Diego stage, entertaining audiences at corporate events, conferences, private celebrations and special events across the country.
Over the years, we've performed for hundreds of organizations, from local businesses and nonprofits to companies including Apple, HP, Pepsi, Petco and Jack in the Box.
Whether we're performing for an audience in our theatre or creating a custom show for a company event, the approach is the same: experienced professional performers, audience interaction and a show created specifically for the people in the room.

Planning your first visit? Here are a few of the practical details that are useful to know before you arrive.
National Comedy Theatre is located at 3717 India Street in San Diego, near the base of Washington Street and conveniently situated between Little Italy and Old Town.
Street parking is available on India Street and in the surrounding neighborhood, but it can get busy, so we recommend allowing a little extra time before the show. Parking meters in the area turn off at 8:00 PM.
Please do not park in lots reserved for neighboring businesses, including the El Indio parking lot.
Yes. There are several restaurants and bars within a short walk of the theatre, including options along India Street and nearby Washington Street, Little Italy and Old Town.
Yes. For parties of more than eight people with pre-purchased tickets, we can arrange reserved seating so your group can sit together.
Yes. Discounted rates may be available for groups of more than 15 people. Contact NCT at 619-295-4999 for current group options.
